Sicilian Iodized Sea Salt - Coarse and Fine: The Treasure of the Ancient Salt Pans of Trapani

Discover the authenticity of Sicilian Iodized Sea Salt , a product that comes from the ancient salt pans of Trapani and Marsala, in western Sicily, where the crystalline sea, together with the strength of the sun and wind, gives rise to a superior quality salt. .

Available in coarse and fine varieties in practical 1kg packs, it represents the ideal choice for those seeking a genuine product, rich in properties and with a complete mineral profile.

The Trapani-Paceco salt pans, a protected area of the Nature Reserve, are the beating heart of this thousand-year-old production, where local salt workers still collect salt by hand, following ancient methods handed down from generation to generation. .

The Two Variants: Thick and Thin

Variant Characteristics Ideal for
Coarse Salt Larger crystals, perfect for slow dissolution Long-time cooking, boiling, grilling, preparations in which the salt must dissolve gradually, table grinder
Fine Salt Fine and homogeneous granulometry, immediate solubility Daily condiments, quick cooking, salads, vegetables, table use

Both variants share the same excellent raw materials and the same artisanal manufacturing process, guaranteeing the highest quality in each crystal.

The Traditional Production Process

Our iodized sea salt follows the ancient processing method of the Trapani salt pans:

Phase Description
Natural refinement The sea water is conveyed into salt pans where, thanks to the action of the sun and the wind, it evaporates naturally, concentrating the salts. .
Hand-picked The salt workers manually collect the salt crust, crushing and delicately shaping it to preserve its purity and quality. .
Drying The salt is left to dry naturally in the sun.
Selection and processing After drying, it is selected and divided into different grain sizes (coarse and fine).
Iodine treatment Potassium iodate (0.0051%) is added to enrich the salt with iodine, an essential mineral for health. .
Packaging The product is packaged in practical 1kg packs, ready for use.

The result is a salt particularly rich in the precious trace elements naturally contained in the sea water from which it originates (magnesium, potassium and iodine), which make it more soluble and complete from a nutritional point of view. .

Why Choose Iodized Salt

Iodine is an essential mineral for our body, necessary for the correct functioning of the thyroid and to prevent the risk of diseases related to it. The recommended daily iodine requirement for an adult is 0.15 mg. .

Our iodized sea salt contains potassium iodate (0.0051%) , equivalent to 3 mg of iodine per 100g of product , contributing significantly to achieving the recommended daily requirement. .

The addition of anti-caking agents (sodium ferrocyanide and magnesium carbonates) prevents the formation of lumps, ensuring perfect dosing every time. .
